This page explains how to delete your Appminton account. Account deletion removes your personal data from our system while retaining certain records for legal and compliance reasons. Please review the following information carefully before proceeding.
How to Delete Your Account
You can delete your account directly from the Appminton mobile application. Follow these steps:
- Open the Appminton mobile app
- Navigate to Settings (gear icon)
- Select Account or Delete Account from the menu
- Review the data deletion and retention information
- Tap Delete My Account to request deletion
- A 6-digit verification code will be sent to your registered email address
- Enter the verification code in the app to confirm deletion
- Your account will be deleted, and you will be logged out automatically
Once deletion is confirmed, your account cannot be recovered. A confirmation email will be sent to your registered email address detailing what data has been deleted and what data is retained for legal compliance.

If you prefer to request account deletion without using the app, you can contact our support team directly:

What Gets Deleted (Immediately Anonymized)
When your account is deleted, your personal identifying information is immediately anonymized and removed from our system:
- Your name is replaced with "Deleted User" in all records
- Your email address is anonymized
- Your password hash is securely cleared
- Your profile picture and personal information
- Your location history (saved addresses)
- Your friends list and friend requests
- Your personal preferences and settings
- Your push notification preferences and device tokens
- All notifications and messages sent to you
What Is Retained (For Legal Compliance)
In compliance with applicable laws and for legitimate business purposes, the following data is retained even after account deletion. Your name is anonymized in all retained records, and only authorized administrative staff can access this data for audit or legal purposes.
💰 Financial & Payment Records (Retained 7 Years)
- Why: Tax compliance and financial auditing requirements
- Payment history and transactions
- Settlement records showing who paid whom
- Session cost breakdowns and fee calculations
- In-app purchase records
- Privacy: Your anonymized user ID is retained, but your name, email, and personal details are removed
📋 Session & Attendance Records (Retained 2+ Years)
- Why: Dispute resolution and maintaining data integrity for other players
- Sessions you organized or participated in
- Attendance records and participation history
- Cost allocation calculations (who owed what)
- Payment obligations and settlements
- Privacy: Your name appears as "Deleted User" in all records
🏆 Competition & Ranking Records (Retained 2+ Years)
- Why: Maintaining competitive integrity and game history
- Game results and scores you participated in
- ELO rating history and ranking changes
- Group-specific rankings and achievements
- Milestone badges and accomplishments
- Privacy: Displayed as "Deleted User" in rankings and game history
⚠️ Important: Account deletion is permanent and irreversible. Your personal data (name, email, profile) will be anonymized immediately, but financial and session records will be retained for legal compliance (7 years for tax, 2+ years for disputes and competition integrity). You cannot recover your account or personal information once deleted.
Impact on Groups and Sessions
Groups you created: If you are the sole organizer of a group, the group may be deactivated or transferred based on our policies.
Sessions you organized: Ongoing or future sessions will be affected. We recommend transferring session management responsibilities to another organizer before deleting your account.
Sessions you joined: Your attendance records will be anonymized, but the session will remain in other players' histories.
Account Deletion & Anonymization Timeline
- Immediate (upon confirmation): Your personal data (name, email, passwords, profile photo) is anonymized. Your account is disabled and you are logged out. The app will no longer recognize your credentials.
- Within 24 hours: Your location history, friendships, notifications, and device tokens are permanently deleted from our primary database
- Financial & Session Records: Retained with your name anonymized:
- Retained for 7 years: Payment and financial transaction records (tax compliance)
- Retained for 2+ years: Session records, attendance history, game results, and rankings (dispute resolution and competition integrity)
- Note: Due to database backup cycles, complete personal data removal may take up to 30 days, but financial records will continue to be retained per the timeline above
Before You Delete
Please consider the following before deleting your account:
- Your personal information will be permanently anonymized and cannot be recovered
- Settlement of payment obligations: While your name will be anonymized, payment records will be retained for audit purposes
- Download any important information you wish to retain (we do not provide data export features)
- Transfer ownership of any groups or sessions you manage to another player
- Inform fellow players if they need to contact you before deletion
- Verify there are no outstanding disputes or legal matters related to payments or sessions
- Understand that financial records (7 years) and session records (2+ years) will remain with your name anonymized
- Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone
Restrictions on Re-registration
After deleting your account, you may register a new account using the same email address after a 30-day period. This is to ensure all data is completely purged from our system.
Privacy and Compliance
Account deletion is conducted in compliance with applicable data protection laws including Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010 (PDPA) and similar regulations.
Your Rights
We respect your right to erasure of personal data. However, under GDPR and similar laws, there are legal exemptions that allow us to retain data when:
- Tax Compliance: We are required by law to retain financial records for 7 years for tax and audit purposes
- Legal Claims: Data may be retained if needed to defend against legal disputes or payment disputes
- Competition Integrity: Game results and rankings are retained to maintain the fairness and history of competition
Anonymization Commitment
All retained data has your personal identifiers (name, email, profile photo) removed. You will appear as "Deleted User" in any historical records. Only authorized administrative staff can access retained data, and only for legal, financial, or operational audit purposes.
